@NarcissusBleak I did the same a couple of years ago, and it’s terrible but true. I just don’t have the patience for gnome etc anymore.

This week I took out a contract with Vodafone with a new HTC Magic. The difference between this and my experience 18 months ago with Three couldn’t have been greater.
With Three, I picked up my phone in the shop with unlimited internet access, etc. During the next three weeks, I endured pure hell trying to get my 3G internet connection working. Each time I called India, I had to start from the beginning, with the same script-reading robots. I eventually tricked someone into fixing my problem by pretending to let them follow their script.
With Vodafone, I signed up online on the Wednesday, the phone was delivered on Thursday morning, and they transferred my number on the date they said they would, Friday. All services I signed up for worked perfectly from the beginning. So far, so good.
Oh and the HTC Magic and Android are absolutely great.
Laid some turf, cold beer after not optional

RT @mbedmicro : Not many of our first #mbed microcontroller beta batch left; hurry while stocks last! http://mbed.co.uk/beta
But, it does come with a waterproof case.
This came free with my phone. 12mp it ambitiously suggests. http://twitgoo.com/uxvp
